$12,000 Raised for Local Animal Shelter and Adoption Agency! Farmington Hills, MI – August 14, 2008 – There are thousands of pets left without a home and care, but fortunately the 3rd Annual Bowl-4-Animal Rescue event was a huge success!!! Aleta Sills and Michelle Mullen hosted the event. Aleta “Lady Sillionaire” Sills is the first woman in the history of women’s bowling to reach $1,000,000 in career earnings. She is the youngest woman to be inducted into the Women’s International Bowling Congress Hall of Fame at 33 years old. Michelle Mullen has won four National PWBA titles, including one major. She also has nine Professional Women’s Bowling Association Midwest Regional Titles – the most titles in this region! Mullen is also the1990-1999 PWBA Midwest Regional “Player of the Decade” and is the Author of Bowling Fundamentals. The event was held August 9th at Country Lanes of Farmington Hills, raising $12,000, with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter (FFDAS) and the Michigan Animal Adoption Network (MAAN). FFDAS and MAAN care for and support adoption of many homeless dogs and cats. Aleta Sill’s Bowling World Pro Shop, located inside Country Lanes, hosted this successful event. The 190+ participants had a great time socializing, bowling and meeting new friends. In addition to bowling, there was food, compliments of Domino’s Pizza and Red Robin, music, karaoke, great auction items, raffles and door prizes. “We were so pleased and honored to be part of such a wonderful community-wide effort. Collaboration between animal rescue groups is so essential, considering we’re all in the same business, and especially given these economic times,” said Kelle S. Sisung, FFDAS Development Director. “The turnout was phenomenal, which just goes to show that working together works! Plus, a giant thanks to Michelle and Aleta for being such wonderful spokeswomen for all homeless animals!” Marie Skladd, President of MAAN added, “The success of the event has allowed us to continue our rescue work on the streets on behalf of thousands of animals.” FFDAS provides loving care and sanctuary to animals, encouraging adoptions and reunions, promoting respect, responsibility and compassion for all animals. MAAN is a coalition of area rescue groups and foster homes working to place rescued and unwanted animals into new, permanent homes where they will receive the love and attention they so richly deserve. MAAN also sponsors volunteers who provide a Shot Clinic and a Low Cost Spay and Neuter Clinic. Thank you to Dr. Good at Dearborn Family Pet Care for her sponsorship.
