Michigan Animal Adoption Network volunteers have now completed four trips to hurricane-ravaged areas, rescuing more than 223 cats and dogs. Thanks to the generosity of supporters, through financial contributions and donations of supplies, the trips were possible.

Unfortunately, many of the animals brought back are in bad shape. Of the 36 dogs brought back from the last trip 11 were heartworm positive. Heartworm disease is treatable but very expensive. In addition to the heartworm disease, many have serious skin issues which must be addressed.

MAAN volunteers did not journey for days with these animals only to give up on them when receiving a dire diagnosis. MAAN will be treating all animals brought back. Then, they will be placed in loving, permanent homes.
The care of these animals depends on the continued generosity of private individuals. MAAN could not have accomplished so much for the animals without this support.
